World Anti-Doping code
The World Anti-Doping Code (The code) is the central document that harmonizes all anti-doping policies, norms and regulations in sports organizations and public authorities around the world. It works along with six international standards that have as an objective to promote understanding between Anti-Doping organizations in differente zones.
- Controls
- Laboratories
- Therapeutic use exemptions
- List of prohibited substances and methods
- Privacy protection and personal information
- Signatories compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code
This unified approach attends problems that appeared because of disjointed and uncoordinated anti-doping efforts that included among other things:
- The shortage and fragmentation of needed resources to make investigations and tests
- The lack of knowledge about substances and specific procedures that are used and to what extent
- An inconsistent approach on penalties for athletes that where found guilty for doping
