2021 Code Implementation Support Program
Context
The Code 2021
Since its implementation on January 1, 2004, The Code has proven to be a powerful and effective tool in harmonizing anti-doping efforts around the world. This has been demonstrated by the overwhelming support of governments and sports in accepting the Code, in addition to the growing body of jurisprudence from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to support the principles of the Code.
2021 Code review process
- A two-year stakeholder consultation, divided into three phases as shown in the schedule.
- Circulation of multiple drafts of proposed amendments to the Code.
- A final draft of the Code that was presented for consideration and approval at the 5th World Conference on Doping in Sport, held in November 2019 in Katowice, Poland.
- The revised 2021 Code will take effect on January 1, 2021.
